Cooking Oils and their Benefits (as seen on Fox4kc)

 

Cooking oils add flavor and moisture to your foods.  Did you know that they offer so many more benefits to you making it count for healthy living.  Check out the variety of oils and their benefits and don’t forget to control your portions with oils by using measurements.  If food absorbs oils quickly, bone broth to add moisture, do not add more oil.  Using vegetable oil is NOT useful unless it is a cost concern.

                                         

 

Almond Oil – Wonderful scent and flavor

  • Can be used as a facial moisturizer
  • Safe for sensitive skin (as long as you’re not allergic)
  • Help reduce the number of wrinkles
  • Delays the appearance of fine lines

 

 

 

 

Toasted Sesame Oil – High source of unsaturated fats

  • Helps rheumatoid arthritis
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Helps fight depression and stress
  • Good for oral health
  • Great for skin

  

 

 

Sunflower Oil – Rich in vitamins A, C and D, which is high in fighting and treating acne.

  • Contains fatty acids
  • Provides antioxidants to regenerate new skin cells
  • Helps rid the skin of acne causing bacteria
  • Good for sautéed foods, deep frying (if you must)

        

 

 

Olive Oil – Contains large amounts of antioxidants.

  • Helps prevent strokes
  • Helps prevent Type 2 diabetes
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Helps prevent heart disease
